DEVON DRYBREAD, COMPANY MEMBER(HE/THEY)
Originally from Cocke County, Tennessee, Devon Drybread found his artistic roots in community theater before beginning his formal dance training in eighth grade. He received his BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he trained with esteemed faculty including Brenda Daniels, Ashley Lindsey, Kira Blazek-Ziaii, Ming-Lung Yang, Abby Yager, and others. His academic performance experience includes works by Rena Butler, Shen Wei, Merce Cunningham, and José Limón, to name a few. Upon graduation, Devon had the opportunity to work with Lauren Edson and Maleek Washington as a part of the Performance Project at UNCSA. He went on to complete his first season with Houston Contemporary Dance Company, performing works by Yue Yin, Joshua L. Peugh, Tamisha A. Guy, and Laura Gutierrez. Shortly after completing his season with HCDC, he joined KODA Contemporary Ballet for the premiere of the company. Devon is excited to continue with HCDC and grow in the Houston arts community.
