HCDC Repertoire
HCDC was founded in 2019 by Artistic/Executive Director Marlana Doyle with a vision to provide audiences with opportunities to view works created by some of America’s most exciting and trailblazing dancemakers that speak to and are representative of the full spectrum of Houston’s diverse populace. The ensemble aims to be a vital component in not only keeping contemporary dance alive in Houston but firmly positioning Houston as a cultural center for contemporary dance by building broad participation and support for the art form.
In a span of just seven seasons, HCDC has presented 26 evening length concerts across Houston, saw the impressive creation of 64 new choreographic works, regularly held educational activities in many Houston area schools, participated in tours to the Spring to Dance Festival in St. Louis, the Red Rock Dance Festival in Utah, the Austin Dance festival, and the Carver in San Antonio, all while cultivating meaningful partnerships with an array of Houston-based and national organizations and artists.
