NIYAH PRATT, GUEST ARTIST (SHE/HER)

Niyah Pratt, originally from Seattle, Washington, attended University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she received a BFA in choreography and Performance as well as a Bachelors of Science in Urban Affairs. Pratt began her early training at the British Dancing Academy in Kent, Washington where she trained for thirteen years in ballet, jazz, tap, and modern. During her time at the academy, she was able to complete the Royal Academy of Dancing (R.A.D.) advanced curriculum in each style. While at UNLV, under the direction of Louis Kavouras, she was able to work with choreographers such as Christopher Huggins, John Lehrer, Alex Yonkovich, Pip Schultz, and Jason Hortin. Pratt’s additional training includes Debbie Allen Summer Intensive, Ailey Experience, Whim W’Him winter intensive, Whirlwind dance Pro-intensive, and Hubbard Street Summer Intensive. Niyah has performed in works for the University Partners showcase where she performed an original Erik Hawkins piece in New York, Akropoditi Dancefestival in Syros, Greece, Falling in Dance Festival in New York, as well as LINK dance festival in Salt Lake, UT  with the Salt Dance Company featuring Choreography of Bret Easterling and Amy Gunter. This will be Niyah’s first season with Houston Contemporary and she is so excited to embark on this journey!
